Typical cases

Building exports and reports by hand

Anyone who reshapes an export by hand every month is doing the work of an interface. It costs time, and every step carries the risk of a shifted column or a wrong date format.

A small program can take over that work: fetch the data, prepare it, load it into the target system. It only raises the alarm when something is off.

Approach

The existing manual step is rebuilt exactly: which file, which columns, which transformations, which destination.

Where the systems offer interfaces, the data is even transferred fully automatically; otherwise there is a file ready to import.

Every run is checked and, on request, logged. If a value falls outside the expected range, a message goes out at once so the error does not go unnoticed.

That is how a program does the work of hours in seconds.

What drives the effort

  • Whether the systems involved have interfaces or only produce files
  • How many transformations and special cases the manual step holds today
  • How often the sync should run

Common questions

What if a system changes its format?

Then the run fails and says so, instead of passing on wrong data. The fix is usually small.

Do we need our own server for this?

Not necessarily. Syncs like this often run as a small service in an existing environment or directly within Office. Hosting and monitoring are available on request.
