In market research, every study ends in numbers: the survey data produces results as plain text, which have to become clear table reports in Excel for the client — along with the statistical measures that turn results into conclusions you can stand behind.
That translation was handled by a VBA macro that had grown over the years. Over time it had become painfully slow and no longer ran through reliably.
The workflow was rebuilt as a .NET add-in: the text files are read in, the statistics are calculated in compiled, tested code, and what comes out is the finished table report in Excel.
The result is around a hundred times faster than before and runs reliably to the end — even on the large studies.
